WSO field trips are led by volunteer field trip leaders. They may involve participating in a caravan of vehicles driving, often on narrow county and town roads with many turns and curves, from place to place to observe birds. You will drive your own vehicle or ride in the vehicle of another. Field trips may involve stopping at multiple locations along public highways and roads and getting out of vehicles to view birds from the roadside or crossing the road on foot. In these circumstances, all participants must be aware of public traffic. Field trips may also involve walking or hiking over terrain which may be steep, muddy, slippery, rough or uneven. We ask that you acknowledge your understanding of these conditions, agree to follow the directions and instructions of the leaders of the field trip, and read and sign a liability waiver.

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are limiting the size of our field trips. We ask that all participants respect social distancing as needed or requested.

Finally, we ask that all participants agree to engage in only accepted ethical bird watching practices and to conduct themselves in a courteous manner and to present a positive image of WSO. This conduct includes being respectful and helpful to other field trip participants, guests and students, the public and WSO volunteer trip leaders.
